Amtgard is an escape for me. It's a hobby. And more
importantly it's my family.
For the past 2 1/2 years of my life I have been a
member of the Rising Winds family and I can't say I've
loved every min of it, but it sure has been a journey.
SOME BAD THINGS ABOUT BEING IN AMTGARD:
Just about the only way to fit in is to be someone
you're not.
-The memories of my very first event are crappy
because of people hounding me about getting it on with
another chick, saying that if I didn't then I was odd.
LOOK IN THE MIRROR JACK ASS!
The back stabbing gosip in this group is worse than a
group of Bunko playing old ninnes.
Being one of the female fighters in Amtgard I can
remember being told to play a magic user because I
sucked at fighting (steriotype- girl= can't fight). I
was told this long before I even picked up a sword
-NEWBIES NEED SOME INCOURAGEMENT NOT ALL INSULTS
Having people assume that since I fight in Amtgard
that I like roleplaying.
Being looked down upon for not doing some of the
stupid stuff that people in office do:
ex. drink, smoke, roleplay, scratch nuts etc.
SOME GOOD THINGS ABOUT BEING IN AMTGARD:
I've been able to show off some of my artwork.
-Art takes me a long time and is very emotional, I'm
glad I can share it with others that like art as well.
I was introduced to a very special guy that made me
feel like a Queen. Cheers, to My First and Only Love.
I've made some good friends out of this.
-I know that I can go just about anywhere and know
other Amtgarders will look out for me and give me a
place to crash.
I get a workout AND have fun by trying to kill the
ones I love :p
Amtgarders have been there for me when my home life
has been a bit on edge.
The lists go on and on...
So you can see I've got both good and bad memories of
this game. Overall I like it and enjoy comming out to
play with all of the other kiddies :)
